  • The following appeared on 16 October 1918 in the Lockport Union Sun & Journal: Oscar R. Dunning, a former resident of Lockport, died on Saturday morning, Oct. 12th, in East Concord, N. Y., after a brief illness of bronchial pneumonia, aged 63 years. Besides his wife, Ella L. Dunning, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Stella A. McNall of Buffalo, two sons, Fred S. of Niagara Falls, N. Y., Roland L. of Great Lakes, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Etta Tildsley of San Francisco, Cal., and one brother William Dunning of Jackson, Mich.
         Mr. Dunning was born in Rochester, N. Y., in the year of 1855. For fifteen years during his residence in Lockport he was employed by the government postoffice as mail carrier, after which he accepted a position with the Transmission Ballbearing Plant of Buffalo. For the past four years he has worked on the Homestead farm in East Concord, where he died.
         Mr. Dunning attended the East Avenue Congregational Church and was a staunch member of Constellation Lodge, I.O.O.F.
         The remains were brought to Lockport where short services were conducted on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. J. W. Bailey. The bearers were Messrs. Ira McCoy, William James, Charles Lansom, William Collins, William Brown and Frank Chase. The body was interred in the family lot in Cold Springs cemetery.
