- Oscar R. Dunning and Ella Louise Hodson appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1900 in Lockport, Niagara County, New York, at 70 Adam Street. Other members of the household included Roland L. Dunning, Stella A. Dunning and Fred Stephen Dunning. Also in the household was widow Electa Van Colt (age 79), identified as an aunt.

- The following appeared on 23 March 1942 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: (Lockport) Mrs. Ella L. Dunning, widow of Oscar R. Dunning, 156 Vine street, died today after an illness of several months. She was born in East Shelby, Orleans county, but resided most of her life here. She was a member of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge, No. 84, and the Plymouth Congregational church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. M. J. McNall, of this city; two sons, Fred S. Dunning, of Niagara Falls, and Roland L. Dunning, of Lockport, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Compton, of this city.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Taylor and Reynolds funeral home here with interment in Cold Springs cemetery. - Roland L. Dunning died on 28 July 1957 at age 64 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, at the Veterans Hospital.

- The following appeared on 29 July 1957 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: Superintendent of Mails Roland L. Dunning, 64, of 114 LeVan Ave., died Sunday (July 28, 1957) in Buffalo Veterans Hospital. He had been suffering from a heart ailment since February.
A Navy veteran of World War I, Mr. Dunning was appointed postal clerk May 24, 1920. He served in that capacity until three years ago when he was designated foreman of carriers.
Temporarily appointed Nov. 2, 1956 as superintendent of mails, he received his permanent appointment Dec. 22. He succeeded Raphael G. Finn, retired. Mr. Dunning was mails superintendent for two months before becoming ill. He had been on sick leave since February.
A Lockport native, he was born Aug. 9, 1892, the son of Oscar R. and Ella Louise Hodson Dunning. He was a member of Red Jacket Lodge 646, F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, the former Grace M. Eaton; a brother, Fred S. Dunning, Largo, Fla; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., where services will be held Wednesday morning at 11. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Red Jacket Lodge will conduct Masonic rites tomorrow evening at 7.
