  • The following appeared on 17 July 1903 in The Flint Daily Journal: George Oldswager died this morning at 5 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Hibbard, 1223 Grand Traverse street, aged 77 years. The deceased was born in Germany and prior to coming to this city a year and a half ago lived on a farm in Montrose. Besides the daughter named he leaves three sons: Dudley, of this city; Marcus, of New York state, and Henry, of Charlotte, Mich. The funeral will be held from the house on Sunday morning at 9 o'clock and the remains will be taken to Montrose for interment.

Dinner was served to 56 guests, including children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Oldswager have nine living children and 13 grandchildren. Among the guests Monday evaning was Mrs. W. L. Ash of Jackson.
         Mr. and Mrs. Oldswager, each 74 years of age, are enjoying good health and are active for their years, taking a keen interest in all questions of the day. Mr. Oldswager is a carpenter by trade and follows his occupation each day, in spite of his 74 years.
         Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Oldswager were presented with several handsome gifts, including $60 in gold. An original poem appropriate for the occasion, was read by Mrs. C. M. Clark.
