- The following appeared on 21 June 1893 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: In the Church of the Sacred Heart at 9:30 o'clock this morning the nuptials of Miss Mary Rieger and Mr. Martin Ryan were solemnized, the Rev. Father Hines officiating. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. Frank Rieger of Lockport road.
The bridesmaid was Miss Tillie Ryan, a sister of the groom, and the best man was Mr. Herman Rieger, a brother of the bride. The bridal robe was a white India silk, while the maide appeared in a dress of red material trimmed with green. The ushers were Mr. Peter Kaue, Mr. Thomas McDonald, Mr. Thomas Duffy.
Following the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride's father on the Lockport road, which was attended by the near relatives of the bridal pair. After a visit to Washington, D. C., and other cities Mr. and Mrs. Ryan will make their home on Ontario avenue, this city. - Martin T. Ryan and Mary A. Mr. Ryan was born in Niagara Falls and always resided here. He was a Democrat, but took no great part in politics. He was a member of the water commission, named by former Mayor A. C. Douglass, which gave Niagara Falls its present water supply system, and was regarded as one of the ablest members of the commission. He is survived by a wife and several brothers and sisters. - The following appeared on 30 March 1916 in The Niagara Falls Gazette: The funeral of Martin T. Ryan, former water commissioner, who died Sunday afternoon, was held from his late home, No. 1365 Ontario avenue, yesterday morning. Services were conducted by Father Jas. J. Roche in Sacred Heart church where a requiem mass was sung. Father Roche spoke feelingly of the record of his departed parishioner and tenderly eulogized his many excellent qualities. The attendance was large. Delegations from the C. M. B. A. and the Knights of Columbus were present during the services. The bearers were Henry G. Ochs, L. J. Fell, Peter Kane, Michael Gormley, P. W. Matthews and John Riorden. The body was placed in a Vault pending removal later to Riverdale cemetery.
- The following appeared on 19 April 1916 in The Niagara Falls Gazette: The will of the late Martin T. Ryan, well known north end contractor, who died recently, was filed for probate with the surrogate at Lockport yesterday. The executor is Edward, a nephew of the testator. The witnesses to the will are Michael J. Kane and Charles S. O'Reilly. The estate is valued at $13,000 real and $15,000 personal. Testator, after directing payment of all just debts, bequeaths the sum of $1,000 to Miss Frances Rieger, a niece. The bulk of the property is left to his widow and after her death to his surviving brothers and sisters or their children. The citation is returnable May 13.
