- The following appeared on 27 January 1907 in The Buffalo Courier: Mrs. Kate Schembs, a well-known resident of the East East Side, wife of Adam Schembs, died at the family home, No. 286 Maple Street, Friday after an illness of a week. She was 52 years old. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mrs. Schembs is survived by her husband and the following sons and daughters: Albert, Joseph, Adam, Susie, Frederick, Andrew, Arthur, Bertha, Edna, Edward, Pearl and Harry Schembs.
- The following appeared on 12 March 1909 in the Buffalo Courier: Adam Schembs, charged with shooting William Wilkerson in the leg with a 32 caliber revolver in a South Division Street rooming house on February 18th, was held to the grand jury by Police Judge Nash yesterday. Schembs became involved in a quarrel between Wilkerson and his wife. Wilkerson is alleged to have forced his door with an axe, and the shooting followed.
