Miss Sporer was a stenographer, employed by the Aluminum company of America. She was widely known at the north end of the city where she had lived all her life and was beloved by many Friends. A brother was drowned in the Whirlpool rapids some years ago. She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sporer, and the following sistes and brothers: Mrs. Fred Masster of Smethport, Pa., and Mrs. John Focazio, Miss Anna Sporer, Mrs. Norman Kumm and Clarence and Lawrence Sporerr all of this city. . . .
Coroner W. L. Draper said this afternoon that he did not think an inquest into the circumstances of the accident by which Miss Gertrude Sporer and Robert Gibbs lost their lives would bring any new facts to light. He said that his investigation showed that Gibbs turned into Main street from Bath avenue and ran his car parallel with the freight train for some distance. Rothenberger, the fireman is alleged to have shouted and called to Gibbs from the window of the engine cab to be careful but the young man, the coroner says, swung his machine directly out in front of the train not realizing that the train was to pass over the crossing. - The following appeared on 14 July 1921 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Died in this city, suddenly, July 13th, 1921, Gertrude Sporer, aged 28 years, beloved daughter of mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sporer, sister of Miss Anna Sporer, at home, Mrs. Fred Masser, Smethport, Pa., Mrs. John Focazio, Frank Sporer, Mrs. Norman Kumm, Clarence and Lawrence of this city. Funeral will be held from the home, 2240 Whirlpool street Saturday morning at 9:30 and 9:00 from Sacred Heart church. Burial St. Mary's cemetery.
