"And an ear for $10,000 and an education."
He is Jean D. Brauer of No. 19 Wyandotte avenue, and in a letter to The Courier, received yesterday, he states he stands willing and anxious to embrace the offer made by Frank S. Quesada, son of a wealthy planter of Manzanillo, Cuba. Quesada lost his left aural organ when fourteen years of age. Recently he has found his deficiency a handicap to courtship. With a view to annexing a good hearing-cup he has journeyed to New York city and on Monday issued his offer of $10,000 for a healthy left ear. Publication of the offer was contained in The Courier of yesterday. Quesada has been informed by a surgeon that an ear easily can be grafted on, at a cost of about $2,000. Quesada's father, who has plenty and to spare, is willing to pay $10,000 for a first-class air-tight, water-proof, government-certified, non-sinkable, aural member, even if it does not boast quite the tropical tan which Quesada's right ear now possesses.
Mr. Brauer in his letter which he requests The Courier to forward to Mr. Quesada, and which has been so dispatched, says:
"Kindly consider me an applicant willing to surrender my left ear, which will make it possible for me to acquire education I lost before marriage. The education I am seeking will be of that substance which will aid me in upholding mankind."
Very truly, Jean D. Brauer.
Constant reader of The Courier"
