• Mary Ann Rushton was born on 17 October 1863 in Poplar, London, Middlesex, England, at 4 Mill Terrace, Bromley, Bow. This date appears on her London birth record, although the year 1866 appears on on her death certificate and cemetery record.
• She was known as Polly.
• She arrived in the US with Johanna Brassel and Jane Rushton and George Rushton on 13 June 1869 at the Port of Quebec, Quebec.
• Mary Ann Rushton and Jane Rushton appeared in the 2 April 1871 first national census of Canada in Toronto East, York County, Ontario, Canada, at the Carmelite Orphanage for Girls. Other members of the household included George Rushton. Noted in the margin, "Inmates of Girls Home, who have no homes elsewhere." Their mother likely was overlooked in the census because she was in domestic service.

• Florence Alberta Ross appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Lakewood, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, at 1425 Waterbury Road. Other members of the household included Mary Ann Rushton.
