- ?Mary? (?) appeared in the British census of 30 March 1851 in Tower Hamlets, West Hackney, Middlesex, England, at 25 Wellington Street. Other members of the household included Henry Hayes. It is an educated guess that this is the correct Henry Hayes. Also in the household were children Mary (age 10), David (6) and Alfred (6).

In this marriage record, the bride is identified as widow Hannah Rushton, age 32, parents Michael and Elizabeth Brassell, and the groom as bachelor Henry Hayes, age 36, parents Henry and Catherine Hayes..

- The following appeared in an Ontario newspaper: (Niagara Falls, Ont., Dec. 2) Harry Hayes, 78 years of age, died at his home, No. 79 McGrail avenue yesterday afternoon. The funeral will be held on Monday at 2:30 p. m., from the family residence to All Saints Church cemetery for burial -- motors. Deceased is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Wright, of Toronto; Mrs. J. Gorman of Niagara Falls, N. Y; Mrs. P. Wilson, Niagara Falls, N. Y., and one son, Harry, at home.

- A single grave marker identifies the graves of Henry Hayes and Johanna Brassel . At a gathering in 2000 of their Candadian and US descendants, it became clear that none of them has any idea who was responsible for erecting relatively recently the granite monument marking the graves of Henry and "Hannah" Hayes, nor did All Saints church records yield any information on the subject. This is especially noteworthy, since the birthdate of neither is in keeping with other records over the course of their lives; their official birth/baptism records have yet to be found.
