James Presley Harrall

  • The following appeared on 12 July 1906 in The State: (Cheraw, July 11) Capt. James P. Harrall, an aged and prominent citizen of Cheraw, died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. H. Reid, with whom he has lived during the past year after a long illness.
         Capt. Harrall moved here when quite a young man, and has since then been closely identified with Cheraw's growth and progress, being for many years one of the town's most influential merchants. He was the captain of a company in the Confederate army.
         Capt. Harralll is survived by his wife, six children, Mrs. H. Scott of Sumter, Mr. L. D. Harrall, Mrs. M. H. Reid, Mr. T. P. Harrall and Mr. Walter Harrall of Norfolk. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. W. Boyd at St. David's Episcopal church yesterday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock, after which he was laid to rest in the family burying ground.
