- Henry Lane Flynt and Ivanona Caroline Moon appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Navasota PO, Grimes County, Texas, enumerated not far from the household David and Nancy McIver.. Also in the household were children Sarah (age 12), Zipporah (10), Joshua (8) and Walter (1), as well as some members of Ivanona's Moon family.
- He was a stock raiser, according to the 1860 census.
- In service to the Confederate States of America, Henry Lane Flynt enrolled on 3 May 1862 at Grimes County, Texas, as a private in Capt. Geo. W. Durant's Company (later Company B), 3rd (Madison's) Texas Cavalry Regiment, and subsequently was elected a 2nd lieutenant.
- Henry Lane Flynt died in 1864.
- His wife Ivanona Caroline Moon became a widow at his death.
- He was interred at Louisiana and there is a cenotaph CSA marker for Henry L. Flynt at Martins Prairie Cemetery, Keith, Grimes County.
