Holt is also remembered in Columbus history for his delivery of the welcome address for noted political figure Henry Clay when he visited the city in 1844. He married Sarah Ann Charlotte Perry in Columbus in 1838. He died in 1865, while serving as a delegate to the state constitutional convention in Milledgeville.
