He was taken ill Saturday. /P/ Surviving are his wife and a small daughter.
- The following appeared on 29 November 1932 in the Dallas Morning News: Dr. Thomas P. McLendon, 44, prominent physician, civic leader and sportsman, died at a local hospital Sunday afternoon following an illness of twenty-four hours and the funeral was conducted from the family home, Mills Place, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Dr. John W. Bergin, pastor of the First Methodist Church here, assisted by Dr. George W. Truett, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. /P/ Dr. McLendon was stricken at his office early Saturday afternoon and was taken to the hospital. /P/ He was president of the Physicians and Surgeans' [sic] Hospital board at the time of his death and had been one of the officials of that institution for several years. /P/ He served as president of the Corsicana Rotarians and had held prominent positiions in the club affairs as well as in the district Rotary body. He was a past president of the Corsicana Country Club and was a prominent golfer. /P/ During the world War Dr. McLendon was an officer in the American Army Medical Corps and saw adtive duty in France. /P/ The regular luncheon meeting of the Corsicana Rotary Club Monday noon was dispensed with as a mark of respect to the memory of Dr. McLendon. /P/ State Home School was dismissed Monday at 12:30 o'clock. Dr. McLendon had been the State Home physician for several years, and a number of the children, employes and officials of the institution attended the funeral. /P/ Dr. McLendon was born at Prairie Hill, Limestone County, Sept. 2, 1888. He moved to Corsicana thiteen years ago. /P/ Surviving are his wife and daughter, Catherine McLendon, of Corsicana; father J. T. McLendon, Waco, and five sisters, Annie Laura McLendon, Dallas; Mrs. Bert McDaniels, Waco; Mrs. Vernon Collier, San Marcos; Mrs. Clayton Pritchard, Harlingen, and Mrs. S. Finley Ewing, Harlingen.
