  • The following appeared on 3 March 1889 in the Galveston Daily News: The League-Hinkle wedding -- Mr. T. J. League and Miss Lillian Hinkle -- took place at the Baptist church at 5:30 Wednesday evening, the 27th ultimo. The church was filled by friends of the contracting parties. The church was handsomely decorated. . . . maidens attendant on the bride, viz., the Misses Lucille West, Lottie Southwick, Nellie Hinkle and Bella Branch. . . The happy pair left on the 6:15 train for New Orleans to take in the Mardi Gras.
