• James P. Williamson and Sarah Ann (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Vallecito, Calaveras County, California. Other members of the household included Catharine Williamson, Thomas Williamson, William Williamson, Pinckney Williamson, Martha Williamson, Agalin Williamson, Nevada Williamson and John Williamson.
• He was a millwright, according to the 1860 census.
• James P. Williamson and Sarah Ann (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Carson City, Ormsby County, Nevada, and also one domestic servant.. Other members of the household included Martha Williamson, Nevada Williamson and John Williamson.
