- Samuel Clifford Brooks and Elizabeth J. Tatum appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Huntsville PO, Walker County, Texas, living near his daughter Nancy Caperton.. Other members of the household included Andrew Jackson Brooks, Montgomery S. Brooks, Madison D. Brooks and Sina Gentry Brooks.
