• He married Ann (?) circa 1879.
• William A. Wingate and Ann (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Grove Hill, Clarke County, Alabama, and also in the household Liza Horn, age 57, identified as mother. If her age is correct, then it precludes her being William's mother, so she may be Ann's mother, but no evidence has yet been found.. Other members of the household included James W. Wingate, Elizabeth Wingate, George Wingate and Sallie V. Wingate.
