- The following appeared on 30 May 1956 in The Dallas Morning News: Mrs. Mollie J. Phillips, 85, a resident of Dallas since 1918, died Tuesday at her home, 402 South Brighton, after an illness of several months.
She was born in Henderson, and when she was five years old moved to Hubbard, Hill County, where she lived until moving to Dallas. She joined the Methodist church at an early age and belonged to the Brooklyn Avenue Methodist Church here for about 38 years. In 1944 she was honored with a life membership in the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudley M. Hughes Funeral Chapel, 400 East Jefferson, with the Rev. Guy E. Perdue of the Brooklyn Avenue Church officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Survivors are two sons, E. B. Phillips and F. E. Phillips; a daughter, Miss Vera Phillips, all of Dallas; brother, Frank Barrett of Hubbard; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
