- The following appeared on 6 December 1908 in the Fort Worth Telegram: Business Manager Feegles has signed up a physician to play on the Fort Worth club next season! This announcement was made Saturday afternoon following the receipt of a contract, properly signed by Clark Campbell, who is now studying medicine in Galveston. Campbell will not report for duty until July 1, after he has completed his course. Campbell is the youngster who played baseball in West Texas last season and made quite a reputation. He is a short stop and is said to be very fast on his feet and quick with his arm. He is also handy with the willow, and, in fact, if half that is said about him is true, he will be a most valuable additio to the team. So if the dope figures right it will be Dr. Campbell, short stop, for 1909. It is pointed out that it will be real convenient to have a physician with the teal all the time, for in addition to being on hand in cases of emergency when a man is hit in the head by a pitched ball or a runner wrenches his ankle, he will also come in good use for general purposes. So Fort Worth should not be troubled to any great extent next season with indisposed players.
