  • The following appeared on 18 July 1907 in The San Antonio Light: Faulkner Goldthwaite, one of the midshipmen killed in the explosion on the battleship Georgia Monday, was a native of Texas. A telegram from his mother, mrs. George Goldthwaite, to Mrs. H. J. Trollinger of this city yesterday brought the sad news that the young man was among the victims. Faulkner Goldthwaite was born in Calvert and was a member of one of the most distinguished families in Texas, Judge George Goldthwaite, for many years one of the leading attorneys of Houston being a kinsman, and Joe Goldthwaite, of Galveston, well known in cotton and commission circles, being an uncle. His sister, Miss Mary Goldthwaite has often visited San Antonio and is popular in the social circles of the city.
