George McIlhenny

  • George McIlhenny was born circa 1861 possibly in North Carolina.
  • According to the Goldthwaite history compiled by Charlotte Goldthwaite, published in 1899, at the time of its writing Sarah Goldthwaite McIlhenny was living in Liverpool with her only son, an invalid.
  • Sarah Goldthwaite and George McIlhenny appeared in the British census of 31 March 1901 in Abercromby, Liverpool Saint Bride Parish, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, at 170 Bedford Street. They were enumerated in the household of engine driver John Evans and his wife Elleanor, with one female domestic servant. Both Sarah and George were "Living on own means."
  • George McIlhenny and Charles Bellshaw Goldthwaite appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Troy, Pike County, Alabama, at 106 Cherry Street enumerated in a boarding house kept by widow H. J. Echols. George's mother was a sister of Charles' father.
  • George McIlhenny died on 3 May 1914.
  • He was interred at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, Pike County, Alabama.
  • Research Note: Based on circumstantial evidence, It is an educated guess that George McIlhenny was the son of Sarah Goldthwaite and Samuel King McIlhenny.
