Uriah Grigsby

- Uriah Grigsby was born on 14 January 1799 in Newberry District, South Carolina.
- He married Catherine Marsh on 4 March 1824 in Wilcox County, Alabama, with W. Fluker as bondsman.
- He married Letitia Ann Wood, daughter of Ashley Wood and Elizabeth McCullers, on 9 February 1826 in Wilcox County, Alabama, with William Fluker as bondsman.
- He made a will on 21 August 1834 at Dallas County, Alabama, in which were listed as heirs. Witnesses deposed 12 February 1839, recorded 26 August 1839.
- On 14 May 1837 Ashley Wood made a will in Dallas County, Alabama, in which his daughter Letitia Ann Wood Grigsby was named his heir. The will, which appoints Uriah Grigsby and Letitia Ann Wood Grigsby executor and executrix, was entered into probate on 17 January 1838 and recorded on 3 September 1838.
- In 1838 Uriah Grigsby presented in the Dallas County, Alabama, court the will of Ashley Wood, and after Grigsby's death James George became administrator.
- His wife Letitia Ann Wood became a widow at his death.
- Uriah Grigsby died on 14 January 1839 at age 40 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
- The following appeared in the Edgefield [South Carolina] Advertiser: Died at Tuscaloosa (Ala.) on the 14th ult., Hon. Uriah Grigsby, member of the House of Representatives from Dallas County. He was born in Newberry District (S. C.) on the 14th January 1799.
