- Sarah Barnes was born on 12 July 1791.
- She was known as Sally.
- She married Joseph Lewis on 27 September 1808 in Hancock County, Georgia, Emma Sanders Thomas identifies ten of the eleven children of Lewis and Elizabeth, omitting Sarah, and Brad Sanders has marriage of Sarah to Joseph Lewis; Sally is named in her father's will abstracts, and Sarah Trippe is named in her mother's will abstract (some confusion with her sister Patience?).
