- The following appeared on 28 November 1930 in the Charleston News & Courier: News has been received in Cheraw of the death of Walter Harrall, 62, which occurred suddenly early Sunday morning at his home in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Harrall was a native of Cheraw, the son of the late James P. and Laura Drake Harrall, but had lived in Norfolk for 36 years.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Emily Ross Harrall, he is survived by one stepson, W. R. Ferrier, of Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Miss Dorothy W. Ferrier, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Alma V. Hemdsman, of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Scott, of Sumter and Mrs. Mary Reid, of Washington, and the following nephews and nieces: Miss Laurie Harrall, Mr. and Mrs. Alex P. Harrall and Carter Harrall of Cheraw; Mrs. Pope Young, Greenwood; Mrs. William Hagood, New Bern, N. C; Miss Ella Harrall, Oteem, N. C; Mrs. William Walker, Spartanburg; Mrs. Nelson B. Arrington, Greenvillel; Thomas Harrall, Asheboro, N. C; James P. Harrall, Columbus, Ohio; Ernest Harrall, Philadelphia, and Mrs. May Reid Giffen, of New York.
Funeral services were held at the late residence Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock and interment took place in Norfolk. Mrs. Henry Harrall and Carter Harrall, of Cheraw, attended the services.
