- Eber Henry Lavender and Katie Lee Brawley appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Lancaster, Dallas County, Texas, boarding in a hotel managed by widow Lou F. Head.. Other members of the household included Evelyn Lavender.
- He was employed as a traveling salesman in hats & gloves, according to the 1910 census.
- The following appeared on 22 May 1910 in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: (San Angelo, May 21) Following a tour of 600 miles out of Dallas in an E-M-F "30," E. H. Lavender, the representative of the G. H. Davis Hat Company of Dallas, has formed an opionion that this sort of traveling is just about as cheap as railroad service. mr. Lavender arrived in San Angelo last week in company with mrs. Lavender and their baby girl. [:CR;] Mr. Lavender left Dallas only a few days ago with the car, and he came direct to Avilene and Sweetwater, thence north to Knox City and other points, stopping at all the towns along the road. [:CR;] "I find that in this way," he said, "I not only get more orders, but the layovers in small towns, so much hated by travelling men, are entirely done away with, for within five minutes after completing my rounds in a town I am on my way to the next station. I do not try to make record speed time on the road, but at the rate of 20 or 25 miles noinjury is worked to the car. [:CR;] "During the entire journey I have had but two punctures, and not a single injury to any other part of the machinery. Not including the gasoline and oil, I am not out more than two or three dollars, and that was for only minor garage expenses." [:CR;] Mr. Lavender from here proceeded to points in the Panhandle and thence to Dallas.
