He had served as principal of three schools prior to his appointment as guidance director in 1947. [:CR:[ A graduate of Sam Houston State Teachers College, he received his master and doctorate degrees from the University of Arizona. [:CR:[ After retiring from the Tucson district, he became head of the department of education at Athens College in Alabama. [:CR:[ He was a past president of the Tucson Community Council, the Pima County Association for Mental Health, the Tucson Education Association and Arizona Personnel and Guidance Association. [:CR:[ Dr. Young is survived by his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Bay Young, Athens, Ala; two sons, Joe B. of Baltimore and Bill J. of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Tims, Bryan, Tex., and Mrs. W. F. Becker, Galena Park, Tex., and three brothers, Earl and E. J. both of Houston, and E. H. of New Orleans. [:CR:[ Services will be held tomorrow at Navasota, Tex., with interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Adnerson, Tex.
