She married William James Bay, son of William Eddins Bay and Susan Emma Brice.

William Eddins Bay and Susan Emma Brice appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Anderson, Grimes County, Texas. Other members of the household included Evelyn Jane Ficklin, Ernest Hulon Bay. There is little doubt that "daughter" Evelyn Bay (age 29) actually is the widow of son William James "Jim" Bay, who died the previous year.
She was a widow employed as a public school teacher, according to the 1940 census.
Evelyn Jane Ficklin died on 23 July 1995 at age 85 in Harris County, Texas.
She was interred at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Anderson, Grimes County, Texas.
