He was founder and leader of Boy Scout Troop #6 in Jonesville. Mr. Waller was a foreman for Gypsum Co. in Albany and retired in 1992. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Dolores McCarthy of Staten Island. His family and friends were proud and amazed at his phenomenal abilities to create, maintain and fix all things related to the physical world. His willingness to use these abilities to help others was one of his most endearing traits. He taught his children to share his love of classical music and an appreciation for the importance of hard work. He will be dearly missed. He leaves behind a dear friend and companion, Christine McKay of Ballston Lake, N.Y; two brothers, Charles of Corinth, N.Y. and Robert of Middletown, N.J; three daughters, Susan House of Johnstown, N.Y., Catherine Blackmere of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Eugenia Saganich of Milton, Vt; two sons, Robert II of Trumansburg, N.Y. and Elmore Jr. of Clearwater, Fla; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Raylinsky, Robert House Jr., Margery Raymond, Marie LaPlant, Cynara Clarke, Ruth Clarke, Benjamin Taylor, Jennifer Waller, Amy Waller, and Brian Waller; four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd., Rt. 146A, Ballston Lake, N.Y. - The following appeared on 13 January 2004 in the Staten Island Advance: Native Staten Islander Elmore E. Waller Sr., 77, of Ballston Lake, N.Y., a World War II veteran and retired foreman, died Saturday in Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y.
Born in Westerleigh, Mr. Waller lived there until he was in his early teens. He then lived in St. George and West Brighton before settling in Ballston Lake in 1958.
Mr. Waller worked as foreman for the Gypsum Co. in Albany before retiring in 1992.
He graduated from Curtis High School.
Mr. Waller served in the Marine Corps during World War II, stationed in Nanking, China.
He was a parishioner of Calvary Episcopal Church, Ballston Lake.
Mr. Waller was the founder and leader of Boy Scout Troop 6 in Jonesville, N.Y.
He enjoyed music and automobiles, and built his own model train layout in addition to building sound equipment in his early years.
"His family and friends were proud and amazed at his phenomenal abilities to create, maintain and fix all things related to the physical world. His willingness to use these abilities to help others was one of his most endearing traits," said his daughter, Eugenia Saganich, on behalf of his family. "He taught his children to share his love of classical music and an appreciation for the importance of hard work. He will be dearly missed."
His wife of 41 years, the former Dolores McCarthy, died in 1989.
In addition to his daughter, Eugenia, surviving are two sons, Robert II and Elmore Jr; two more daughters, Susan House and Catherine Blackmere; two brothers, Charles and Robert; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and his longtime companion, Christine McKay.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Towney & Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Lake. Burial will be in April in Jonesville Cemetery.
