She was called "mother" by the children of John Walthall, her brother, because she reared them after his death. They are John Walthall of El Paso, Mrs. George J. Pancoast and Mrs. Mattie Walthall Lehman, both of San Antonio, and Madam Christine Walthall of the Sacred Heart Convent, New Orleans.
