She was born in El Paso on July 24, 1922, to Faye Taylor and Jesse H. "Mike" Plegues. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1938 and attended Sul Ross College. In 1941, she married Carlos L. Dunn who, for 43 years remained the love of her life.
Margaret Faye and Carlos moved from Alpine to Sanderson in 1954 with their children Bill, Carla, and Ross. They lived there until 1967, when they returned to Alpine.
During the Sanderson years, Margaret Faye began her long career with the U.S. government office of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. She continued this work in Alpine, becoming one of the first women in the nation to achieve the position of County Executive Director. She retired from the ASCS in 1996, after 40 years of dedicated service.
Margaret Faye was a strong and independent West Texas woman. Her spirit, dignity, and character were a source of inspiration to her family and friends.
She is survived by Carla Dunn of Portland, Oregon and Ross Dunn of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26th at the Holy Cross Anglican church in Alpine, Texas, where Margaret Faye and Carlos were among the founding members.
Geeslin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
