  • Joseph M. Harvey was born on 1 August 1926 in Winona, Montgomery County, Mississippi.
  • The following appeared on 1 January 1953 in The Winona Times: Services for Clarence Charles Harvey, Sr., president of the Winona Dry Kiln Co., were held at Immanuel Episcopal Church at 10:30 Saturday morning, January 3rd, with the Rev. Jones Hamilton of Greenwood and the Rev. R. S. Lowe of Winona officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
         Serving as active pallbearers were J. W. Bowen, G. F. Ebert, B. F. Heath, C. M. Jaco, W. O. Lisenby, H.W. Peterson, N. D. Stringer and W. D. Trewolla.
         Mr. Harvey died at his home Thursday afternoon. He was born April 14, 1892, in Scott County, Miss., the son of Annie Laurie Jones and Robert Huey Harvey, and came to Winona about 24 years ago.
         He was a veteran of World War I; a member of the American Legion Post here; a former secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, and a communicant of Episcopal Church. He was active in civic and religious affairs.
         Mr. Harvey was married Miss Ezilda Pegues on Aug. 14, 1917.
         He leaves his wife; five sons, Nicholas P. Harvey of Long Island, N. Y., Clarence C. Harvey, Jr., Robert H. Harvey, Joseph M. Harvey and E. Malcolm Harvey of Rouge, Louisiana ; two sisters Mrs. Leonora Atkinson ol Sumrall, Miss., and Miss Annie Lois Morris of Prentiss, two half-sisters, Mrs. Ray Hamilton of Harpersville, Miss., and Mrs. Ray Barnett of Bath, N.Y; two brothers, Otis L. Harvey of Jackson, Miss., and Elbert H. Harvey of Louisville, Ky; three half-brothers, Barbour Harvey of Pelahatchie, Jimmy Harvey of Fort Sill, Okla., and Oliver Harvey of Lake, Miss; and ten grandchildren.
  • The following appeared on 16 April 1970 in The Winona Times: Mrs. Ezilda Pegues Harvey, wife of the late Clarence C. Harvey of Winona, died April 10 at Tyler Holmes Hospital after an illness of several weeks. She was 74 years old.
         A native of Carrollton, Mrs. Harvey was a charter member of the Winona Woman's Club and a charter member of Nick T. Pegues Post 52 American Legion Auxiliary, and was active in both organizations for several years.
         She was a communicant of Immanuel Episcopal Church.
         Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the Episcopal Church, with Rev. Michael Bell officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery, Winona Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
         Surviving are five sons, Clarence C. Harvey, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Nicholas Pegues Harvey, Long Island, New York; Robert H. Harvey, Short Hills, New Jersey; Joseph M. Harvey, New Providence, New Jersey; and Edwin Malcolm Harvey, Newnan, Georgia; and 17 grandchildren.
         Pallbearers were George Harris, Rufus Gardner, Aubrey Boone, Jack Harris, John Blake, and Joe Simpson.

Service: A memorial service will be held in his boyhood home, Winona, Miss. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, consideration of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Fort Worth, 2630 West Fwy., Fort Worth, Texas 76102, in his memory, is suggested.
         Joe moved from Hot Springs Village, Ark., to Fort Worth after the death of Charley, his first wife. He was a member of Arborlawn Methodist Church, loved big band music and dancing, and was an engineer who could fix anything. He was a jokester; his smile and the twinkle in his eye will be missed.
         He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ezilda Harvey; his wife of 58 years, Charley Sample Harvey; wife of two years, Gaye Brown Harvey; and five brothers, Clarence Jr., Nicholas, Robert, James and Malcolm. Survivors: In addition to his daughters, Deborah Deas and her husband, Thomas, JoAnne Woodcock and her husband, Milton "Buzz," Barbara Westmoreland and her husband, Barton, Joe is survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
