Mrs. Allen was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the WMU, and involved in many other church activities. Frances, as a direct descendant of General William Henry Harrington, was a longtime member of the DAR. She was very proud of this membership. Mrs. Allen retired from Pee Dee Electric in 1987. She is preceded in death by her husband Dan Lewis Allen Jr., her parents, and a sister Anne Rogers Jordan of Sacramento, California.
Survivors are sons, Dan L. Allen III and wife Inell, Roger H. Allen and wife Kathy, and G. Brooks Allen and wife Lucy. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Mandy Allen, Brad Allen (Kristi), Lewis Allen (Stephanie), Rebecca Allen Gilliam (Charlie), Blair Allen all of Rockingham, and Gregory Allen,Jr. of Lancaster, S.C. In addition, Mrs. Allen also has three great grandchildren: McKenzie Allen, Luke Gilliam, and Emma Allen.
Funeral services will be at Crestview Baptist Church in Rockingham at 10 a.m. on April 16, 2011, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church April 15, 2011, from 6 - 8 p.m., and at other times at 423 Crestview Dr. Rockingham. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crestview Baptist Church 436 Crestview Dr. Rockingham, NC 28379.
