- The following appeared on 11 September 1968 in The Mineola Monitor: Dan Dyer Pegues, 88, native and lifelong resident of Mineola, died Sept. 4th in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 Thrusday morning, Sept. 5, in the English Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial was in Mineola City Cemetery under direction of the English Funeral Home.
Mr. Pegues, who was retired, had been a Baptist since childhood.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Pegues, Mineola; a daughter, Mrs. Bedford Parker, Denver, Colo; two grandchildren; three neices; and four nephews, Galt Pegues of Shreveport and Ben, Tom and robert Pegues of Mineola.
Pallbearers were Bob Killingsworth, Tom Browning, Herman Dean, Earl Aldridge, Guy Moseley and Beaune Tucker.
