  • The following appeared on 27 August 1935 in The Charlotte Observer: (Cheraw, S. C., Aug. 26) Social activities in Cheraw last week centered around the approaching marriage of Miss Blanche Robey Wannamaker of Cheraw and C. E. Watts, Jr., of Camden which will take place August 29.
         Thursday afternoon Miss Naomi Pegues was hostess in honor of Miss Wannamaker with four table arranged for bridge and a few additional guests at the conclusion of the games. Miss Wannamaker's place was marked with a miniature bride. The high score prize was won by Mrs. Wilbur Yates of Raleigh who is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. McI. Watts, and Miss Wannamaker was presented a gift. Miss Pegues was assisted in serving a sherbert course by her mother, Mrs. S. O. Pegues.

         Miss Mary Louise Pegues was hostess Friday morning at her home in Marlboro county when she entertained at a bridge breakfast honoring Miss Wannamaker. A two course breakfast was served after which bridge was played at two tables. Mrs. Paul Hammond and Miss Nancy Louise Hammond of Welsh, West Virginia, and Mrs. Olin Pegues assisted in serving. Miss Rosa Spruill won the prize for high score and Miss Wannamaker was presented a gift.

         The parties given in honor of Miss Wannamaker and Mr. Watts will continue through Thursday morning.
