• She married Harold Hartshorne on 14 May 1942 in Norge, James City County, Virginia, at the First Lutheran Church, with Rev. O. C. Rolfsen officiating.
• The following appeared on 15 May 1942 in The New York Times: (Norge, Va., May 14) The marriage of Mrs. Barbara Hatch Emert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ames Hatch of New York and Sharon, Conn., to Harold Hartshorne of New York, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Mott Hartshorne, took place here this afternoon in the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. O. C. Rolfsen performed the ceremony in the presence of the two families. [:CR;]      The bride, a granddaughter of the late Daniel B. Hatch and the late Seth M. Milliken, attended the Brearly School and studied abroad. She made her debut in the season of 1932-33 and is a member of the Junior League. [:CR;]      Mrs. Hartshorne was married previously to Dr. James T. Emert of New York and St. Louis. They have a daughter.
• The following appeared on 15 June 1943 in The New York Times: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hartshorne of New York and Little Silver, N. J., announce the birth of a son, Daniel Hatch Hartshorne, Saturday, June 12, at the Le Roy Sanitarium. Mrs. Hartshorne was the former Barbara Hatch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Hatch.
• The following appeared on 25 October 1947 in The New York Times: A daughter, their third child, was born here to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hartshorne of 31 East Seventy-ninth Street and Little Silver, N. J., on Thursday in the LeRoy Sanitarium. Mrs. Hartshorne is the former Miss Barbara Hatch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Hatch of this city and Sharon, Conn. The child will be named Daryl.
• The following appeared on 6 June 1953 in The New York Times: Mrs. Barbara Hatch Hartshorne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ames Hatch of 817 Fifth Avenue and Sharon, Conn., was married to John Briggs McLemore Jr., son of Mrs. McLemore of Nashville, Tenn., and the late Mr. McLemore, yesterday afternoon in the chapel of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. John Sutherland Bonnelkl performed the ceremony.
       Mr. McLemore was graduated in 1937 from Yale and in 1940 from the University of Virginia Law School.
