John Green Monk

John Green Monk was born circa 1841 in North Carolina.
He served a private in Company A, 24th North Carolina Infantra Regiment, CSA.
He married Jane C. Whitfield, daughter of Lewis Whitfield and Martha A. Bumpass, on 20 January 1867 in Person County, North Carolina.
Lewis Whitfield and Martha A. Bumpass appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Flat River Township, Person County, North Carolina. Other members of the household included John Green Monk, Jane C. Whitfield. Also in the household were twins Martha and Lewis R. Monk (age 1.)
He was suffering from typhoid fever, according to the 1880 census.
John Green Monk died on 20 December 1898.
His wife Jane C. Whitfield became a widow at his death.
He was interred at Brookland United Methodist Church Cemetery, Roxboro, Person County, North Carolina.
