- Matilda PIllat appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1900 in Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana, at 907 West Green Street enumerated in the household of her daughter Mary Manthey (age 19) and her husband Rudolph (31) and their son Arthur (1).. Other members of the household included Mary Schultz.
- The following appeared on 15 October 1908 in the LaPorte Weekly Herald: Mrs. Matilda Schultz, aged 62, was found dead in bed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Manthey, 1501 Tennessee street, Michigan City. Death was due to apoplexy.
