She was beloved by her family and friends. Mary is survived by her son Rob Cook and his wife Mary Anne and their son Ben, by her daughter Deborah Seale and her husband William and their children Amanda and Anna, and by her daughter Louise (Bo) Adaline and her husband David and their children Travis and Christi. Her husband Bob Cook predeceased her. Mary was born in Harriman, Tennessee on October 31, 1925, and attended NYU. She was a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Knoxville Association of Realtors since 1965 and served on their Board of Directors from 1975-1977 and 2003-2006. Mary loved nature and always had a beautiful garden. She grew up training and riding horses. But she was always especially fond of dogs; she was one of the original volunteers with HABIT (Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee) and was an active volunteer with the HALT (Humans and Animals Learning Together) program for the past 20 years, much of that time on their Board of Directors. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 5:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Mary would like donations to HALT (c/o Catatoga Kennels, 1737 N. Campbell Station Rd., Knoxville, TN 37934), the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission (418 North Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37919), or Small Breed Rescue (P.O. Box 4661, Oak Ridge, TN 37831). Mary's family will receive friends Sunday, January 9, from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
