         He was born Jan. 25, 1925 in Villa Rica, to the late William Homer Goff and Lillie Stewart Goff. He graduated from Villa Rica High School in 1942. After high school graduation Dr. Goff served in the U.S. Army with the 163rd Combat Engineer Battalion.
         Dr. Goff married in 1943 to Imogene Dukes Goff. They were married for 38 years until her untimely death in 1981. He attended the Southern College of Pharmacy (Mercer) in Atlanta and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1949. In 1949, he and Imogene moved to Jackson where they owned and operated the City Pharmacy. He married Sue Fountain in 1987 and retired from City Pharmacy in 1988.
         He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson where he served as chairman of the Board of Deacons, finance chairman, Young Men's Sunday School Class teacher for 12 years, and Superintendent of Enlargement (outreach) for four years.
         Dr. Goff was very active in the community. He was elected as a member of the Jackson City Council and served continually for 16 years from 1975 until retiring in 1991. He served as county coordinator for Govs. George Busbee and Joe Frank Harris during their tenures in office and was secretary-treasurer of the Butts County Democratic Committee. He was a member of the Jackson Downtown Development Authority for eight years and was a charter member of the Butts County Jaycees.
         On the state level, Dr. Goff was a member of the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities for eight years, charter member of the Georgia Prader-Willi Syndrome Association, and served on the West Georgia Private Industry Council for several years.
         He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of St. John's Lodge No. 45, F.&A.M., member of Jackson Chapter No. 54, Royal Arch Masons, Alexius Commandery No. 22, Knights Templar, and the Al Siah Temple of Shrine in Macon. He was a charter member of the Carroll Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Carrollton, Ga., member and Past Worthy Patron of Jephtha Chapter No. 252, Order of the Eastern Star in Jackson.
         In addition to his parents and wife, Imogene, Dr. Goff was preceded in death a daughter, Lucy Goff; grandson, Collier Goff Jackson; sisters, Wilma Waldrop, Annie Ruth Powell and Virgie Raney; brothers, James, Harry, Frank, Jack, Clarence and Bobby.
         Survivors include his devoted wife, Sue Fountain Goff; daughters, Nancy Waits (Herman) and Peggy Jackson (Collier); grandchildren, Rivers Waits, Joe Waits, Matthew Jackson, Stewart Jackson; great-grandchildren, Carter Waits, Carlee Waits and Barrett Jackson; step children, Sheila Clore, Sandy Lawson, and David Fountain; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Goff.
         Funeral services for Dr. Roy Donald Goff were held Saturday, June 15 at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. The Rev. Bob Thompson officiated with interment in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Haisten Funeral Home Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
