- The following appeared on 27 January 1944 in The Daily Times-News: (Chapel Hill, Jan. 27) Prof. Shipp Gillespie Sanders, 55, of the University of North Carolina faculty and brother-in-law of Dr. Frank P. Graham, University president, died here yesterday. He had been ill for several months.
Prof. Sanders taught Latin and Greek here for 20 years.
He was a native of Georgetown, Tex. He was graduated from Southwester university and received the master's degree from Princeton. He taught at Dartmouth and had done graduate work at the University of Wisconsin.
The widow, three sisters and three brothers survive. - Catherine Graham died on 14 January 1980 at age 86 in Chapel Hill, Orange County, North Carolina.
