- He married Elizabeth H. Chappel, daughter of John G. Chappell and Mary Ann Williams.
- William B. Adams and Elizabeth H. Chappel appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Pickensville PO, Pickens County, Alabama. Also in the household were S. J. Clark (age 13), F. E. Clark (6) and Albert J. Bush (19).
- He was a merchant, according to the 1860 census.
- Research Note: W. B. Adams enlisted in Carrollton, Pickens County, Alabama, on 1 July 1863, as a private in Company I, 7th Alabama Cavalry Regiment, CSA. It appears that he later was attached to Company A, 4th Alabama Regiment, and died of measels on 4 July 1864 in Richmond, Virginia, at the Howard's Grove General Hospital.
