He is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Eva Bates, one son, Travis of Washington, D.C; two daughters, Tina Bates Boone and Violet Ann Ford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; mother, Odie Bates; three sisters; one brother; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law of Houston, Texas, four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law of Hampton, Va; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scotts Funeral Home, Brookland Park Blvd. at Lamb Ave. Funeral service Tuesday, November 25, 1986 at St. James Episcopal Church, 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Fagin, Pastor, Rev. Charles Joy officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home, 1:15 p.m. Interment in Conroe, Texas. Please omit flowers.
