He was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. Floyd retired from Samsonite after 27 years of service. He was a charter member of Tennessee Youth Baseball Association Coach-Pitch.
Floyd was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Loyd Taylor. He is survived by wife, Crystal Miller Taylor of Murfreesboro; parents; John H. Taylor and Annie Mai Parker Taylor of Murfreesboro; son, Charles Wayne (Linda) Taylor of Christiana; daughter, Leah Nichole (Brandon) Jones of Smyrna; brothers, John H. Taylor, Jr. and Charles Thomas (Vicki) Taylor both of Murfreesboro; sister, Judy Carol (Ed) Hott of Murfreesboro; and five grandchildren, Rebecca Taylor, Charles Matthew Taylor, David Taylor, Kellen Jones and Maggie Jones.
A chapel service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Harold Gill and Don Hackney officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
