Dr. George W. Pomeroy, pastor of the First Methodist Church, was to officiate and burial was to be in Liberty Cemetery in Milam County, Tex.
Additional services are scheduled in Milam County's Liberty Community Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Lantrip died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Lake Charles for 30 years before his retirement in 1959 and was an employe of York Oil Field Supply Co. for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, W. W. Lantrip Jr. of Lake Charles and Bob T. Lantrip of Houston, Tex; three daughters, Mrs. Paul E. Miller of Lake Charles, Mrs. leen, Tex., and Mrs. Tom Burke of Tulsa, Okla; Homer Pelentel of Killeen, Tex., and Mrs. Tom Burke of Tulsa, Okla; one brother, Henry Lantrip of Vinton; three sisters, Mrs. M. M. Reese of Coutolla, Tex., Mrs. Sam Nicholson of Paris, Tex., and Mrs. Robert Jacobs of Yorktown, Tex; 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. - The SSDI lists Harris County, Texas, as the last residence of record of Bob Turney Lantrip.

He was 80 years old. Bob was born December 20, 1927 in Albany, Texas, to parents Willie and Kate Turney. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Leigh Darrow, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy Bell & Paul Miller, sister and brother-in-law Joy & Homer Plentl and brother-in-law Tom Burke. He was the "rock" to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Nanette Norman, daughter, Debi Gay, son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lynn and Laura Lantrip, sister Kathryn Burke, brother and sister-in-law, Billy & Juanita, brother-in-law Leslie Norman and wife June. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Lynnette Flanagan, Rob Lantrip and wife Jessica, Dray Wilson, Kristin Darrow, Michael Nelson and wife Jamie, and Liz Nelson. Also, his great-grandchildren, Tommy, Caroline & Keith Flanagan, Morgan, Maddie & Turney Lantrip, Devin Nelson and the newest edition, great great-grandchild Samuel Nelson.
Bob graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1946 where he was active in all sports but excelled in football. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Lake Charles High School. He attended Rice University on a football scholarship where he played fullback. He played as a freshman in the Orange Bowl and as a senior in the Cotton Bowl in 1950. Bob worked for Houston Shell and Concrete for 30 years - retiring in 1992. Bob and Nan filled their lives with country western dancing and playing golf with their friends.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, January 25th at 3 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Terrace United Methodist Church, Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University or a charity of your choice.
