Born in Sacramento, raised in Yuba City, Jim graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in journalism. He is survived by his wife, June; daughter Elizabeth; son-in-law David; grandson William; as well as sister Harriet Casserly, her husband Lawrence Casserly, of Yuba City, and their two sons Larry and Jim; sister Mary Pierce of New York City and her son Steven. Jim served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy, and made a career as an Insurance Broker for Farmer's Insurance.
