Dr. Robert Lee Whitfield, Jr., 78, of 65 Cobblestone, Abilene, '30, died Aug. 1 in Quincy, Ill. He was visiting with a daughter Mrs. Al (Jean) Godsey of Canton, Mo. He served as Taylor County's health director from 1962-72 and was in the Army for 30 years retiring as a colonel. While in the military, he served on the staff of the Army surgeon general and as chief medical advisor to Chiang Kai-Shek in China.
Survivors include his wife the former Lillian B. Peters; Mrs. Godsey; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. - The SSDI lists Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, as the last residence of record of Lillian B. Peters.
- She was interred at Quincy National Cemetery, Quincy, Adams County, Illinois.
- Lillian B. Peters died on 30 September 1994 at age 90.
