- The following appeared on 19 July 1962 in The Bridgeport Telegram: (Greenwich, July 18) Henry Finch Holland Sr., 49, former assistant secretary of state for inter-American affairs, died today in a Greenwich hospital.
He was admitted to the hospital Saturday. His home was on Khakurn Wood road.
Holland was a partner in the New York law firm of Roberts and Holland, having been with the firm since he left the State department in 1956.
Holland was appointed assistant secretary of state for inter-American affairs in 1954. He served as assistant chief of the Unites delegation to the 10th Inter-American Conference and was later chief of the delegation of the Inter-American Conference on Resources of the Sea in 1956.
Born in Brownsville, Tex., he was a graduate of the University of the South and the School of Law of the University of Texas.
He practiced law in Texas until 1942, when he was made a member of the foreign service auxiliary and assigned to the U.S. embassy in Mexico.
He resumed his law practice in 1945.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Adams Holland, he leaves two sons, Henry F. Holland Jr. and William W. Holland; a daughter, Anne Elizabeth Holland; and a brother, Baxter F. Holland of Greenwich.
Funeral services will take place here Friday.
