He was the former owner of Schlitz Distributorship and a retail grocery store. He was a former officer with the St. Joseph's Fathers Club, and a former member of the Victoria Optimist Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia King of Phoenix, Arizona; his son, John McAlpine of Victoria; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Anderson McAlpine, and a sister, Gladys Cooper.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 27, 2000, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 28, 2000, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Michael Harrold officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Vargas, Richard Kunkel, Alan King, Frank DeAmaral III, Zane DeAmaral, Gwyn Pat DeAmaral, Brad Bruegging, and Randall Thompson.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Victoria, 202 Hopkins Street, Victoria, Texas, 77901. - He was interred at Evergreen Cemetery, Victoria, Victoria County, Texas.
