Jonathan H. Ridgeway

- Jonathan H. Ridgeway was born circa 1808 in Tennessee.
- From the January 1845 Montgomery County Commissioners' Court meeting we find the following minutes on page 204: "Ordered by the Court that John Park, Jonathan H Ridgeway, A H White, Richard Williams and Joseph Lindley be and they are hereby appointed to mark and lay out a road commencing near Joseph Lindleys, running to Burches ferry on San Jacinto and make report of their actings and doings at the next term of this Court."
- Jonathan H. Ridgeway appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Montgomery County, Texas. Also in the household was Elizabeth Ridgeway, age 76, likely his mother.
- He was a farmer, according to the 1850 census.
- "Bay Mare Dolly Morgan had a colt the 8th of May, a Sorrel horse colt with white feet & star in the forehead, by Horse Red Tiger a Sorrel horse Kept by Jonathan Ridgeway.", Green Wood recorded: On a blank page in the front of his 1852-1853 daily plantation account book.
- On Sunday, 27 February 1853, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Loaded the first flat Boat with 66 Bales cotton, got everything ready for a start tomorrow morning -- Wm B. Wood Master, Jonathan Ridgeway, George Ridgeway, Mr Trimble, -- Warnica & Stephen hands."
On 8 March, "Billy Returned home from the Boat." Then on the 22nd, "Loaded the three Boats, finished about sun set. . . . Billy & Stephen went down to the first Boat," and on 2 April, "Stephen got home from Lynch burg this evening." - On Thursday, 10 March 1853, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent two Boys & Mules to plow for J. Ridgeway yesterday," and on Saturday, the 12TH, "The two Bens returned with their mules from Ridgways, Plowed 4 days for him."
