- The following appeared on 3 January 1941 in The Sabine Index: Mrs. Sallie Chapman Rembert passed away Monday morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clifton Bridges in Pleasant hill.
Mrs. Rembert was 93 years of age and had been in failing health for several years but even in advanced age she was bright and interesting and one always felt better from having spend awhile in her company. She was a very remarkable character and was always interested in the affairs of her town and state.
She moved to Louisiana with her parents when she was a child of 10 years and spent the remainder of her life in and near Pleasant Hill. She was a fine musician and it was always a great pleasure to her friends and family when she would play the old time melodies. She was 17 years of age at the time of the battle of Pleasant Hill, being the last witness; every detail was plain in her mind as she would relate these interesting incidents and hardships they had to endure.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Vernon Rembert of DeQuincy, Arthur Rembert of Mitchell, Frank Rembert who is employed in the Commercial National Bank of Shreveport, Robert Rembert of Waskom, Texas, Mrs. Corinne Smith of Mitchell and Mrs. Clifton Bridges of Pleasant Hill; 15 grandchildren living and 11 great - grandchildren.
Mrs. Rembert joined the Methodist church when young and was buried from this church, Rev. W. M. Beadle performing the service and she was buried in the cemetery in Pleasant Hill by the side of her husband, R. A. Rembert, who preceded her by 10 years. Many friends who feel that she lived such a useful and consistent Christian life will always be glad they knew such a friend and person as she was. A number of near relatives throughout north and south Louisiana attended the funeral. The Drewitt funeral home had charge of the services at the grave. - Franklin Chester Rembert registered for the draft in 1942 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, while living at 2427 Line Avenue in Shreveport, employed there by Commercial National Bank on Texas Street.
- Franklin Chester Rembert died on 16 September 1967 at age 83 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana.
